Daniela Stöffin - Osteopath

Daniela, Osteopath, The Therapy Rooms

Daniela has experience treating patients of all age groups and from a wide range of backgrounds. She loves working with people and helping them get better.

She likes osteopathy as it is a very gentle form of treatment. Osteopaths work with the self-healing forces of the body and use different types of techniques, like soft tissue, joint mobilisation and manipulation.

Daniela studied osteopathy at College Sutherland in Germany. She has a special interest in cranial osteopathy and has completed post-graduate training with the Sutherland Cranial College of Osteopathy (SCCO).

Daniela can also give you advice on lifestyle and exercises. She originally trained as a massage therapist, and is also a Pilates teacher. She is registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC).

What Can Someone Expect at an Osteopathy Appointment?

Osteopaths work with different types of techniques like:

  • soft tissue
  • stretches
  • joint mobilisation
  • manipulation

Osteopathy North East – Principles

Osteopathy is based on the principle that the body works as a whole. In other words Daniela will look at your whole body, not just the area that feels stiff or where you’ve got pain.

Osteopaths try to find out the cause of the problem by using palpation and movement tests. If you had previous examinations, please bring the results to your first appointment.

It is best to wear loose fitting clothes or sports clothes. You might be asked to undress to your underwear as this helps with some tests and parts of the examination. Please let her know if you are uncomfortable with this. You can also bring somebody with you to the appointment. Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Cranial Osteopathy North East:

Cranial osteopaths work with subtle changes of tissue quality and tension. They treat the whole body, not just the head as the name might imply, and work with people from all age groups.

This is an especially gentle approach, often used in the treatment of children.
